Andromeda Galaxy lights years away

Andromeda is the closest galazy to ours (The Milky Way).It is estimated to have up to one trillion stars, whereas the Milky Way contains hundreds of billions. The Andromeda Galaxy is spiral shaped. Our neighbor Galaxy is 2,538,000 light years. To give you a better understanding about how far a light year is I shall explain.A light-year is a unit of distance. It is the distance that light can travel in one year. Light moves at a velocity of about 300,000 kilometers (km) each second. So in one year, it can travel about 10 trillion km. More precisely, one light-year is equal to 9,500,000,000,000 kilometers. 1 light year = 9.4605284 × 1015 meters
